Our current view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 9 July 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance.

Feedback showed that staff treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Staff told us that the leadership team was approachable.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation; however, this was not consistently followed.

The practice had systems to identify and manage risks; however, improvements were required to ensure risks pertaining to including infection prevention and control and safety were properly identified and mitigated.

Porchester Dental Practice is 1 of 2 registered locations operating from the same premises run by 2 providers under the same location name. The practice is in the London Borough of Westminster and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice was not accessible to wheelchair users due to steps leading down from the entrance to the reception and treatment rooms. Patients requiring step free access were signposted to accessible local NHS dentists in the area. The practice was within easy access of public transportation and paid on street parking was available on surrounding street.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 8 staff, of which there were 4 dentists, 2 qualified dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse and 1 receptionist. One of the qualified dental nurses assisted with the practice management duties. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 qualified dental nurse/practice manager and the trainee dental nurse.

People's experience of the service

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We reviewed patient feedback we received, and feedback routinely obtained by the practice. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Comments included,

“All the dentists here are excellent, and all the staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful.”

“ Everything is perfect from 20 years ago and my dentist is massively kind and more knowledgeable…”

“ [The dentist] is incredibly thorough in her approach, attentive and always takes the time to answer any questions. She has a calm, reassuring manner that makes every visit a genuinely pleasant experience.”

Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.

Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.

“ I can't praise enough [the dentist] congenial and gracious approach to her practice.”

Patients said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.

Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
