All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced, on-site inspection on 15 September 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Newquay and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 16 staff, of which there were 3 dentists, 8 dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 2 dental therapists, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection.

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

We carried out a follow-up review of Newquay Dental Centre after our inspection on 14 November 2012 when we identified areas where the provider was not fully compliant. The Commission had received an action plan from the provider, which detailed how they intended to address the areas of concern.

We asked the provider to tell us, with supporting evidence, how they had complied with the outcomes identified as non-compliant at the last inspection.

We did not visit the service or speak with people who used the service on this occasion.

We found people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

14 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke to four people who were visiting the practice for examination and/or treatment. People we spoke to were complementary about the staff and the practice. Comments included, 'no complaints', 'they're all good', 'I've got nothing negative to say' and 'always clean; staff always very very friendly'.

We found that people's views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care. People's privacy, dignity and independence were respected.

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

However, we found, people were not protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had not been followed.
