Our view of the service
We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 24 February 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Nunneleyhouse Dental Practice on 5 December 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17 good governance and regulation 19 fit and proper persons employed of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulation 19 fit and proper persons employed but were not complying with regulation 12 safe care and treatment or regulation 17 good governance.
The practice had ineffective systems to manage risks relating to infection prevention and control, clinical waste management, Legionella, electrical and fire safety.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation.
There was a lack of a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
Although there was step-free access into the building, there was no step-free access into the treatment room. Car parking spaces were available near the practice, including dedicated parking for disabled people.
The practice had 1 treatment room. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 2 staff, of which there was a dentist and a trainee dental nurse. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to both staff members during our inspection.
The provider was not complying with Regulation 12: Safe care and treatment and Regulation 17: Good governance. Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection findings below.
In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.
