During a routine inspection

We spoke with the dentist, two senior staff members and one patient during our visit to the dental practice. The patient had been with the practice for many years. They said they were very happy with the service they received, and described their relationship with the dentist as 'working together'. They said the dentist always involved them fully in what they were doing throughout the consultation. They found it easy to get an appointment when they wanted one and usually did not have to wait long before being seen. They told us they had 'never had occasion to complain' about the care and treatment they received.

We found the provider took steps to ensure people were able to give fully informed consent to any treatment they received. People received treatment that met their needs and appropriate arrangements were in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.

People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

Staff were fully trained and supported to carry out their work effectively, and were given opportunities to complete further additional training throughout their employment.

The provider had effective systems to assess and monitor the quality of service people received, and responded positively if areas for improvement were identified. They took steps to clearly identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and staff.
