Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 12 May 2025.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
Infection control procedures in place kept patients safe.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.
Not all risks were appropriately assessed and managed.
Recruitment policy reflected current legislation; however, this was not always followed by the provider when recruiting new members of staff.
Clinical waste was not disposed of suitably.
Processes were needed to ensure prescriptions were managed in line with current guidance.
There was a lack of effective governance, leadership and oversight.
The practice is in Covent Garden in the London Borough of Westminster and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
Access to the practice was via a flight of ascending stairs which leads to the reception area, decontamination room and a treatment room. Paid car parking spaces were available near the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 4 staff, of which there were 1 dentist, 2 trainee dental nurses and 1 dental hygienist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 2 trainee dental nurses and the dental hygienist.
The provider was not complying with 1 regulation. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection findings below.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any feedback from patients. On the day of our inspection, the inspection team did not get the opportunity to speak with patients.
