During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

This review of compliance was carried out using documentary evidence provided by the registered manager at our request. We did not speak with people who used the service or with staff as part of this inspection, nor did we visit the service.

We found, from documentary evidence supplied, that the service had carried out staff training that ensured people were cared for by suitably qualified and knowledgeable staff.

During a routine inspection

People told us they had been using the practice from two months to five years and they were very satisfied with the service they received. One person wrote, 'I have been using this practice for a number of years and I am very satisfied. The orthodontist respects me and listens to what I have to say about my relative's treatment'.

One person said, 'The orthodontist asked me questions about my medical health at each visit. He wanted to know if there were any changes to my health'. People said a range of treatment was discussed with them, but they made the choice of treatment they wanted.

We found people were involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and support. People were cared for in a clean well maintained environment and were protected from abuse. They had their comments listened to and acted on effectively. The registered person had not taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent it before it occurred.
