During a routine inspection

We spoke with the dentist, five patients who used the service, and consulted nine sets of treatment plans. Patients we spoke with told us that they were fully involved in the planning of their treatment. The dentist discussed different options available and enabled patients to make informed decisions about their care. Patients were fully satisfied with the quality of their care and treatment. Treatment plans were reviewed at the beginning of each visit. One patient told us, "Every step is clearly explained and discussed". Another patient told us, "I am so grateful for his expertise and patience, my children and I have been trusting this practice for the past twenty years".

We saw that Esperance dental practice had a policy and clear procedures in place for safeguarding children and adults at risk.

We saw that the service maintained appropriate standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises. We found that the practice followed clear infection control procedures. The dentist told us, "The decontamination process is strictly and correctly observed ". One person who used the service told us, "The premises are always clean, it is a nice place to relax in".

External and internal audits were carried out to identify how the service could improve. We found that the service had an effective incident reporting system and a complaint policy with clear procedures.
