During a routine inspection

We spent a significant proportion of our time talking with the practice manager and one of the dental partners. They explained to us how they gained consent and showed us copies of signed consent forms and treatment plans. Each patient had an electronic care record. The record contained information about the person's medical history and treatment given. It also contained scanned information such as referral letters and x-rays.

We looked at the decontamination procedure and saw the practice was compliant with the essential quality requirements of Health Technical Memorandum 01-05: Decontamination in Primary Care Dental Practices.

We spoke with one patient who was very complimentary of the service. They told us they had been receiving dental care from this practice for many years. They told us they were very happy with the quality of care especially because their dentist understood their anxiety and gave them time to express how they felt. They told us their dentist always discussed treatment options with them.
