During a routine inspection

We carried out this announced inspection on 24 April 2017 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We planned the inspection to check whether the registered provider was meeting the legal requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was supported by a specialist dental adviser.

To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:

• Is it safe?

• Is it effective?

• Is it caring?

• Is it responsive to people’s needs?

• Is it well-led?

These questions form the framework for the areas we look at during the inspection.

Our findings were:

Are services safe?

We found that this practice was providing safe care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Are services effective?

We found that this practice was providing effective care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Are services caring?

We found that this practice was providing caring services in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Are services responsive?

We found that this practice was providing responsive care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Are services well-led?

We found that this practice was providing well-led care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

During a routine inspection

Following our inspection of the service we spoke with four people by telephone who had received treatment at the practice on the day of our visit.

All the people we spoke with were very complimentary about the service and treatment they had received at Country Park Dental Practice and would recommend the practice to family and friends. Comments included 'I can't fault them; they provide an excellent service from the receptionist through to the dentist' and 'All the staff are very friendly and professional, they take great care of me.'

Everybody told us they were always provided with information about their treatment in a way that they could understand and this included treatment options and related costs. They all felt very involved in their treatment.

We found that the surgery was clean and tidy and that staff understood the cleaning procedures to be followed. We saw that there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of cross infection.

We found that the staff were appropriately trained and supported and that the provider had systems in place to ensure the quality and safety of the service provided.
