During a routine inspection
This practice provides a full range of general dental assessments and treatments.
The practice location has one treatment room for dental treatments and one where the hygienist works. The dentist treatment room and the waiting room are all on the ground floor so could be suitable for people who have mobility restrictions.
People receiving care and treatment from this practice location pay independently or can access their dentistry through NHS costs. The practice has a current contract with the NHS to provide NHS dental care to people.
As part of our review we spoke with two people by phone (these people also told us about the experiences of other family members) and four people in the waiting room. People spoke highly of this dentist practice. People were satisfied with the care and treatment they had received. Below are a few comments people made;
'The dentist is one in a million. I really sing his praises and recommend to everyone. The dentist is brilliant. I have been to other dentist practices but they have not compared. All the staff are polite, friendly and helpful as well'.
'I have been coming to this dentist for years. I am very happy with my treatment I do not want to go anywhere else. They are calm and friendly and really make you feel at ease'.
'I am very happy using this dentist. They make you feel comfortable. They are helpful and friendly and really explain everything to me'.
'I have always been a bit nervous with dentists but not this one. They put you at ease'.
'Very good. No complaints at all. I recommend this dentist to my family and friends'.
'I come here because it is homely and friendly. I am made to feel comfortable and safe'.
'All of the staff are approachable, friendly and helpful which really makes you feel at ease and relaxed'.
We spoke with a number of staff. They made positive comments about working at this dental practice. One staff member told us that all staff work as a team. Another staff member told us;' A lot of our patients have been coming here for years and years. We know all our patients very well'.
Observations during our visit confirmed that staff were very polite and friendly to the people who use this practice. They were respectful and helpful when talking to people at the practice and over the phone. Staff were very accommodating in terms of making appointments to meet people's requirements.
Evidence that we gathered during this review confirmed that people are assessed to decide what dental and oral healthcare needs they may have. Treatments that people may need are discussed with them and are carried out in a satisfactory way.
Overall we found good practices regarding infection control and cleaning procedures which demonstrated compliance in this area.
