All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We met a person who had visited one of the dentists in their previous practice. They told us they moved practice so that they could continue having treatment by the dentist. They told us they were 'happy" with this practice.

We met a person who had telephoned the practice the day before because they had a broken tooth. They said it was not unusual to be able to get an emergency appointment at short notice. They said 'The staff are fine, they know their jobs'.

Another person, who had been attending the practice since they were a child, said they were happy with the service they received.

People's needs were assessed and treatment was carried out according to their individual treatment plan. There were records maintained and these were audited. Other audits were carried out to monitor the quality of the service provided including gaining the views of people who used the service.

Arrangements were in place to deal with unforeseen emergencies and staff were trained in resuscitation techniques as part of their continuing professional development. Staff told us about other training they completed and said they felt supported.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who visited the practice for treatment or checks on the day of our visit. One person told us they had been recommended the practice and had attended there for about 20 years. They spoke of the treatments they had received and how the dentist had explained processes to them. They told us they 'couldn't speak highly enough about the practice' referring to the dentists as 'brilliant' and 'exceptional'.

Another person said that they had found treatment they had in the past as 'excellent'. They told us they appreciated the advice that the dentist gave them.

We took the opportunity to speak with a young person attending with their parent. They told us they had treatment in the past and were anticipating further work to be carried out. They said the previous treatment was painless so they weren't worried about their appointment. Their parent told us that the dentist explains the treatment to them and their child.
