All Inspections

24 January 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection on 24 January 2013 we spoke with four people who were attending the dental practice for treatment. We received positive comments about how they had been made welcome by friendly staff and had been treated with respect at all times. One person said, "Everything is fine. I have always received good treatment". Another person said, "I have recently had a lot of treatment and the dentist has given me a very full explanation of the treatment, which is what I want to hear".

Care plans contained detailed accounts of the care people had received and of the assessments that had been carried out at their initial dental appointment.

One young person we spoke with said, "The dentist speaks to me nicely and explains the treatment I need. I feel safe when I am in the dentist chair and my mother is always there with me". We found that children and vulnerable adults were protected by the policies and procedures adopted by the practice to ensure the staff could respond appropriately to any concerns of abuse.

We found that relevant Department of Health infection control guidelines had been adhered to so that people were safe from the risk of cross infection.

One person said, "The dentist has always been clean every time I have been here". The premises were clean and comfortable. Risk of fire had been reduced by appropriate fire alarms and fire safety equipment available to use in the case of a fire.
