Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: Onsite assessment 25 and 26 June 2026. The service is a care at home service providing support to adults of all ages, people living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. Although the service had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns, some improvements were needed around the recording of this. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly, should they arise. People were protected and kept safe and staff understood and managed risks. Infection control practices were in place and there were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care, though mandatory triaging in supporting people with a learning disability had not been provided to staff. Medicines practices needed to be improved.

People were involved in assessments of their needs, though some records relating to this sometimes needed to be more consistent. Assessments were created and reviewed taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. People were supported to stay healthy and retain their independence. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care to encourage better outcomes. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. The Registered Manager made sure people understood their care and treatment, which enabled them to give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people in their care.

People’s privacy and dignity was protected, and people were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and staff responded to people’s needs. The service supported staff wellbeing.

People were involved in decisions about their care and the service provided information to people in formats they could understand. People knew how to give feedback and felt confident the service acted on it. The service worked to eliminate discrimination. People received fair and equal care and treatment. The service worked to reduce health and care inequalities through training and feedback. People were involved in planning their care and understood options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. Managers worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to new ideas. There was a culture of wanting to drive continuous improvement, though some aspects of governance needed to be improved.
