During an inspection looking at part of the service

We haven't been able to speak to people using the service concerning this visit as we were checking on actions taken by the provider with respect to risk assessments and checking of Criminal Records Bureau checks on staff, in addition to the covering of chairs in the surgery. This was to follow up on improvements required, that were identified at a previous review on 22 February 2012.

During a routine inspection

During our visit to the surgery on 22 February 2012 we spoke with a number of people who were waiting to see the dentist. They told us that they were well treated and involved in their care. One person said 'I have been coming to this dentist for a number of years but suddenly had to come as an emergency, and my treatment was fantastic'. We were told by this person that they received effective quick emergency treatment from the practice.

People that we spoke told us that the dentist explained their treatment to them and that they understood about the treatment they were to have before it started. People also told us that they were asked about their medical history. One person said,' I always bring a list of the medication I am on with me so the dentist can look at it'.

We were told that the dentist and the nurses wore gloves and that patients were offered protective visors.
