During a routine inspection

During the course of our visit, we spoke with three people who use the service, three relatives and three members of staff.

We visited the agency's office to look at records and talk to staff about how they provided safe and appropriate care to people.

People we spoke to were happy with the service they received from Westhome Care Services. They said they had regular carers who they were happy with.

The people we spoke with all said they had been involved in planning their care and told us that they could contact the main office if they had any queries. One person told us, "The staff are lovely. They do a good job."

We were told that people felt safe with the care workers who supported them. One person told us, "Staff arrive on time and always have a chat with me." A relative explained, "I am happy with Westhome and when I ring the office they sort out any niggles straight away."

We found the provider had systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of the service. People told us they felt comfortable discussing any concerns they had with the manager or with staff, and most people told us their concerns were always acted upon.

We saw the agency checked every member of staff to make sure they were suitable to work with people.

During a routine inspection

Westhome Care Services Limited is a Domiciliary Care Agency and at the time of our inspection it was providing a service to 50 people.

We visited the agency's office to look at records and talk to staff about how they provided safe and appropriate care to people.

We spoke to people who use the service, and with some relatives, about their care.

People we spoke to were happy with the service they received from Westhome Care Services Limited. They said they had regular carers who they were happy with.

One person said "The staff are friendly and have time for a chat." Another person said "They are very busy but always have time for a chat."

The people we spoke with all said they had been involved in planning their care and told us that they could contact the main office if they had any queries.

A relative we spoke to said "The staff I have met are professional and always respond to any little matters I may have"

People's care needs were carefully assessed and people told us they were involved in drawing up their care plans. One person told us, "I am hard to please. I have to say I am very happy with the staff at Westhome."

Staff were properly trained and given regular supervision and appraisal of their work.

Systems were in place to regularly ask the views of people who used its services, and evidence that the provider listened to, and acted upon, such feedback.
