Outstanding

Updated 26 February 2025

Date of Assessment: 10 March to 25 March 2025.Cleeve Lodge is a residential care home providing personal care to 21 people aged 65 and over at the time of the inspection.

Care plans were clearly written, provided guidance, and had very good examples of how people were supported to take part in day-to-day activities. Staff were aware how to identify and respond to changes in people’s needs. The service had many initiatives in place to promote and support people with their health and wellbeing and routinely monitored people’s care and treatment. Documentation around capacity was completed in line with best practice.

Staff understood their responsibility to report concerns about safety. There were enough safely recruited and sufficiently trained staff to carry out safe care. The environment met people’s needs and managed the risk of infection. Medications were managed effectively.

Personalised care was planned through discussions with people and their relatives. The service worked really well with external agencies and professionals to ensure people’s individual needs were met in a planned and timely manner. Professionals provided extremely positive feedback about how the service responded to people’s needs.

Leaders were passionate about delivering high quality care. Regular meetings were held with staff, including supervision, handovers, and daily huddles. Staff consistently told us how they felt well supported in their roles.

We observed outstanding compassionate and kind care throughout our visit. Staff told us they enjoyed working at Cleeve Lodge and understood the importance of providing care in a person-centred way. The provider ensured people had a vast number of activities and events to participate in if they wished.

Audits were carried out, however, they did not always document actions required, this did not impact people using the service. The provider had good built links with community services and healthcare services such as GP’s, physiotherapists, dentists, podiatrist, and opticians. Professionals were positive about the working relationship.
