Date of inspection: 9 March 2026. Doulton Court Lodge Care Home supported up to 41 people in a care home with nursing. Some people were living with Dementia. The service provided safe care and support. People were cared for by staff who understood their needs and offered kind, person-centred care. Risks were assessed with people and staff supported people to stay safe while promoting independence. The environment was safe and well maintained and staffing levels meant people received consistent support from staff who knew them well. Safeguarding processes were effective and people told us they felt safe. Staff spoke up about concerns and learning from incidents was shared. Medicines were generally well managed, although some shortfalls were identified with recording thickeners, storing creams safely and completing temperature checks. The registered manager took immediate action to address these issues, reducing any risk to people.

Care was planned and delivered using up to date assessments and evidence-based guidance. Staff worked well with other professionals to keep people well and respond quickly when health needs changed. People had enough to eat and drink and were supported to make healthier choices. People were treated with dignity and kindness and staff respected their preferences, beliefs and backgrounds. People were involved in decisions and felt listened to. Staff recognised individual communication needs and provided information in accessible ways.

The service worked flexibly to meet people’s changing needs and ensured continuity of care through strong partnership working. People and relatives said concerns were addressed quickly and feedback was used to improve the service. End of life care was compassionate and reflected people’s wishes. Leadership was visible and inclusive. Staff felt well supported and part of an open and positive culture. Governance systems were effective and helped the registered manager identify and act on improvements. The service continued to learn and develop, involving staff, people and external partners to improve outcomes.
