During an assessment of Diagnostic imaging

Ultrasound Care Bromsgrove is a private clinic providing ultrasound baby scans and other diagnostic scans to the local population. The provider offers the same services across 3 other locations with centres in Birmingham, London and Bristol.

The service provides various 2D, 3D and 4D scans of babies before birth, using 4D ultrasound scanning equipment They offer early pregnancy scans, gender scans, and 4D ultrasound baby scans for reassurance and keepsakes. The service also provides various diagnostic scans and phlebotomy for patients over the age of 18. This included general abdominal scans, deep vein thrombosis scans, prostate scans, kidney scans, ureter and bladder scans, testicular scans, aortic scans, and gynaecology scans.

The service is delivered by a small team which includes a registered manager, sonographer, chaperone, and a receptionist. The main service provided by this clinic is diagnostic imaging. The service is in a specifically designed speciality clinical area with a large scanning room, a consultation area, two large waiting rooms and a printing room. Public car parking is adjacent to the service, and it is close to the town centre with local links to public transport. The service is open six days per week, offering scans into the evenings and at weekends.

The service was last inspected in November 2023, when services were supplied by a different provider. We assessed Ultrasound Care on 2 March 2026.

We assessed 1 assessment service group at this location to review the progress made against requirement notices that were served on the previous provider following the inspection in November 2023. We found that the service had made improvements and had met the actions of the requirement notices.

Ultrasound Care was registered with CQC in November 2023 to deliver the regulated activities: Diagnostics and Screening procedures. The service had a Registered Manager/ Nominated Individual.

At this assessment we assessed 1 assessment service groups: Diagnostic Imaging where we assessed 32 quality statements.

We visited the following areas as part of the assessment: Bromsgrove Ultrasound Care Centre, receptions, clinical treatment room, printing room, store area, and clinical records store.

At this assessment we identified breaches of regulations: 12 Safe Care and Treatment, and 17 Good Governance.

We rated the location asGood. We found breaches of regulations in relation to: mandatory training, staff supervision, detailed minutes and risk assessments.
