Date of Assessment: 29 September – 6 October 2025. Prestige Nursing Leicester provides care at home; providing support to the whole population, including older and younger adults, people with physical disabilities, people living with dementia and children with learning and/or physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection the service was supporting 31 adults and children who were in receipt of the regulated activity, personal care. This inspection looked at people's personal care and support. CQC only inspects the service being received by people who are provided with the regulated activity 'personal care'; help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. The service applied the principles and values of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture and other best practice guidance. These ensure that people who use the service can live as full a life as possible and achieve the best possible outcomes that include control, choice and independence.

The provider had an effective learning culture where staff understood, and managed risks and people were kept safe. Risks were assessed and regularly reviewed to ensure measures remained effective and appropriate. People were supported to understand certain risks but to continue when this enhanced their quality of life. Staff were exceptional at understanding people’s emotional communication and responded effectively to signs of distress, anxiety and frustration. Managers and staff followed the least restrictive options to keep people safe and ensured lessons were learnt and shared through de-brief processes. Staff were confident and well supported through training and supervision. Staffing levels were safe. There were clear on call and support arrangements. Staff worked well with other health and social care professionals to help reduce the risks people faced, give them more choices and improve their quality of life. People were supported to maintain their emotional and physical wellbeing through support with healthcare, medicines and nutrition. People’s care was planned in an exceptionally personalised way and based on latest evidence and good practice. The provider had an exceptional understanding of the diverse health and care needs of people and ensured staff were equipped with the appropriate skills to support these needs. Staff support focussed on helping people live as they wanted. People’s independence and right to choose was always respected. Staff were exceptional at enabling people to achieve a range of positive outcomes in terms of increased independence and improved quality of life. People’s rights were respected and upheld. Staff were flexible and supportive to help people plan and meet their goals. People and relatives described staff going above and beyond to help them improve their quality of life.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People were supported to identify and achieve meaningful goals and aspirations, including hobbies and interests. Staff encouraged and supported people to be a part of their local communities. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. The provider prioritised, promoted and supported staff wellbeing. The culture was open, inclusive and supportive. Staff morale was high, as was retention. The management team was exceptional in helping staff to professionally develop in their roles and maintained good oversight of the service. Managers and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. They were committed to enabling people to achieve the best possible outcomes from their care and support. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. Managers worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to new ideas. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas.

People's experience of the service

People were overwhelmingly positive about the quality of their care. They said they received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. People and relatives we spoke with all said they felt safe, well supported, respected and included in how the service supported them. Many described how staff had built positive relationships with them. People praised staff for their kind and caring approach and in how they worked in partnership with families. Comments included, “Honestly, I can’t think of anything they could improve; they are brilliant. They cover everything, they are so in tune with their patients”,,” “They do everything well, I know I can leave [Name] safely and I can give the rest of my family everything they need. I feel they actually love [Name], not just care for them. What I find amazing is their teamwork” and “They are really good at personal care and interaction. They look after [Name], treat them like one of their parents. They are particularly good; I would recommend them.”

People were included in all decisions about their care and support. Their needs were regularly reviewed by staff who understood them well; their goals and aspirations were listened to and supported. People and relatives told us, “Staff talked to me about my care. Anything I want added or taken out. It’s reviewed about once a month; they talk to you” and “The care planning is exceptionally comprehensive; we are re-doing it at the moment. [Registered manager] is very good at following up on other paperwork DOLS, MCA etc. They regularly make sure it’s up to date and reviewed. They will always copy me into emails.” Staff supported people in a compassionate manner, recognising their individuality and demonstrated during their conversations how well they knew people. It was evident people were at ease with staff as they received care from a consistent team of staff who were well matched to their needs and interests. A relative told us, “We feel they always find the right person for [Name]. They find people who are willing to learn about our [Name] and get on with our them.”People and relatives praised the management team for their commitment to ensuring everyone received quality care to achieve the best possible outcomes. Comments included, “I don’t have any problems whatsoever with the management. [Registered manager] is on top of everything. They act pro-actively before it becomes an issue” and “They are brilliant; 10/10. I would hate to have another company; they do so much for us. If they can help, they will.”
