Safe

Requires improvement

6 November 2025

Safe – this means we looked for evidence that people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm. At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained requires improvement. We assessed 2 quality statements in the safe key question. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the rating from the last assessment. which was requires improvement. This meant some aspects of the service were not always safe and there was limited assurance about safety. There was an increased risk that people could be harmed.

The service was in breach of legal regulation in relation to people’s safe care and treatment and fit and proper persons employed. At this assessment improvements had been made, and the service was no longer in breach of those 2 regulations. Though the assessment of these areas indicated good practice since the last assessment, our rating for the key question safe remains requires improvement.

Safe and effective staffing

Score: 2

At our last inspection we found the provider was not employing staff safely as all the required pre-employment checks had not been carried out. At this inspection we found the provider had made the required improvements and was now carrying out all the required pre-employment checks for staff. This included obtaining references and carrying out a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). The provider had obtained full employment histories for staff and checked any gaps in employment. Management told us they had reviewed all staff recruitment files and made sure all checks had been completed. Action had been taken to better organise staff files so information could be found easily when needed. Whilst improvement had been made and the service is no longer in breach of regulation, the score reflects that it will take time to see these improvements embedded in practice and the areas of improvement sustained.
