During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 04 December 2025.
Oak Lodge is a care home that can accommodate up to 22 people. They provide personal care and support for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 17 people living at the service.
This service was registered with us on 17/11/2023, and this is the first inspection. The last rating for the service under the previous provider was ‘Inadequate’, published 1 March 2024. At this inspection the rating for this service is ‘Good’.
During the inspection we spoke with the manager, the operations manager and the registered provider. We spoke with 5 staff. Health and social care professionals also provided their views and opinions on the care provided to people at the service.
Robust recruitment checks had taken place before staff started working at the service and there were enough staff to support people and meet their needs. People were protected from risk of abuse and risks to people were managed well. People’s care was regularly reviewed to ensure this remained effective. People had access to health care professionals when they needed them, and they received their medicines when needed. There were systems in place to help prevent and control infections. Staff were trained in areas related to peoples care needs and they received regular supervision. There was an activities programme in place that met people’s needs. There was a complaints procedure in place in formats that people could understand.
The provider did not have a registered manager in post. The current manager had been working at the home for 10 months. They had applied to CQC to become the registered manager for the service. The manager and staff worked in partnership with health and social care providers to deliver an effective service. There were systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service, and any learning was identified and acted on. Staff told us they received good support from the registered manager.
