During an assessment under our new approach

We visited the service on 21 and 23 July 2026. This was the first assessment of a newly registered and previously unrated service.Amaiva Homecare Services is a domiciliary care agency supporting people with personal care within their own homes. At the time of our visit 12 people were receiving personal care support. There are 2 company directors, one of whom is the registered manager.People were supported by a care team that delivered safe care and worked hard to establish a good rapport with the people they supported. Staff were recruited safely and were provided with all the training needed to equip them with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality care. Staff confirmed they had a thorough induction prior to starting on visits to people and felt confident with the support they were given by managers.Infection control procedures were followed, and staff understood the importance of wearing correct Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, when supporting people to minimise risks of cross contamination.Risk assessments were completed on individual home environments and the registered manager ensured staff were fully informed of any risks they may be exposed to when visiting people’s homes. Safety was fully considered with out of hours support in place.People’s medicines were administered in line with the prescriber’s instructions and all staff administering medicines had completed training and visual competency assessments. Medication management did reveal some things which required furtherclarification, but the registered manager acted immediately to make those improvements.Pre-assessments were completed before the start of any care package and care plans were detailed and easy to read, with any specific risks and care needs identified and addressed. Regular care plan reviews were completed. A safeguarding policy was in place and staff spoken to described the signs of abuse and how to report any concerns they may have. The team worked well with other healthcare professionals, and people benefitted from having a core team of staff to support them, enabling continuity of care and trusted relationships to be developed. Staff provided person centred care, respecting and accommodating people’s preferences and communication needs. Daily notes were detailed but task based, and this was discussed with the registered manager about how to reflect more about the person within the daily notes. They recognised this and said it will be addressed with staff moving forward.Feedback surveys were allocated to people and staff with responses being analysed and any required changes made to improve the service provided. Oversite was maintained with regular audits and spot checks on staff performance. The registered manager was proactive and enthusiastic about developing their service and had excellent knowledge of the people they supported. There was an open and transparent culture where managers were always available for people and staff to contact, and all were encouraged to speak up and offer feedback.
