Treating people as individuals

Score: 3

The provider treated service users as individuals, and made sure their care, support and treatment met their needs and preferences whenever possible. If required, the service was able to access translation and interpretation support to facilitate assessments and care delivery.

Training in equality, diversity, and inclusion, had been undertaken which supported the provider in understanding the individual needs of service users.

Independence, choice and control

Score: 3

As an independent health provider, people chose to book into the service. There was an initial assessment of the needs of service users, followed by discussion of treatment options.

We saw that the provider’s website displayed information on charges for services.

Responding to people’s immediate needs

Score: 3

The provider listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. They responded to service user needs, and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress. The provider worked with the service user throughout their time with the service, and carried out a detailed initial assessment of both immediate and ongoing needs.

Minimal medicines were kept onsite due to the nature of the service. Some emergency medicines were kept onsite, and the provider had assessed and documented the rationale for selecting these specific medicines. We saw that checks on emergency medicines were carried out and recorded regularly, and that basic life support training had been completed.
