Date of assessment: 15 January 2026 to 12 February 2026.

Mend Care is a domiciliary care service. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our assessment, 12 people were receiving support with personal care. The service is registered to provide support for younger adults, dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health, older people and physical disabilities.

 

This was the first assessment for this service since it was registered with the Care Quality Commission on 17 July 2023. This was a planned assessment based on the date of registration with the CQC. This service has been rated good in all five areas of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well – led.We will continue to monitor information we receive about the service until we return to visit as per our assessment programme. If we receive any concerning information we may assess sooner.

 

An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is registered for use by people with autism or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or autism. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.

 

Medicines were managed safely and administered as prescribed. The provider completed investigations following incidents, accidents, safeguarding and complaints and actions for improvement were identified where necessary and implemented. Risks to people associated with their health and well-being were identified and risk management plans were developed. Staff felt supported by senior staff and felt able to raise any concerns with them.There were enough staff to provide support to people in the way they chose. Staff received training to enable them to provide safe and dignified care. The provider completed a range of audits to monitor the quality of the care. The provider had a process to assess a person’s ability to make informed decisions about their care.

Overall, the service delivered good, safe and person-centred care and demonstrated a commitment to learning and improvement.

 

People's experience of the service

Feedback from people and relatives was mostly positive and consistent. People told us staff were kind, caring, professional and respectful, and many said they felt safe when supported by regular carers who knew them well. Several people spoke positively about the management of the service and said they would recommend it to others. Overall, people told us the service helped them to live safely and independently in the way they preferred. Relatives commended the service for their communication and sharing of information.
