Our view of the service
Chislehurst Neurological Rehabilitation Centre is an independent specialist neurological rehabilitation service in Southeast London providing inpatient care for adults with acquired brain injuries, complex neurological conditions and long-term neurological care needs. The service supports people with a range of physical, cognitive and neuropsychiatric needs arising from conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxic brain injury and other neurological disorders. Rehabilitation is delivered through a multidisciplinary approach focused on supporting recovery, promoting independence and improving quality of life.
The service accepts referrals from across England, often following discharge from acute hospital services once a person is medically stable. Care and rehabilitation are delivered by nursing, medical and therapy staff, with programmes tailored to people’s individual needs, abilities and rehabilitation goals.
The service is a specialist post-acute neurological rehabilitation service offering both rehabilitation and long-term condition management for adults aged 18 years and over. Conditions supported include acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, complex stroke, progressive neurological conditions, Huntington’s disease, cognitive impairment and other complex neurological care needs.
The service has a maximum capacity of 15 beds. At the time of the assessment, 12 people were receiving care and treatment.
The service is registered to provide the following regulated activity:
- Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care.
At this assessment the service was rated Good overall. The ratings for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led were all Good.
