CQC register Swiss Cottage Care Home to carry out the following legally regulated services here:

Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care

  • Mrs Melanie Auckland is responsible for these services.
  • Miss Caroline Anne Holdsworth is the registered manager for these services at this location.
Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered provider must within 10 days of this notice coming into effect, have devised and implemented an effective system to ensure those service users at risk of leaving the home have effective risk management strategies in place that adequately mitigate this risk and that are understood and followed by staff.

The registered provider must provide CQC within 10 days of these conditions coming into effect, written confirmation that a system to ensure effective risk assessment and management of these service users at Swiss Cottage, Plantation Road, Leighton Buzzard LU7 3HU has been implemented, and provide a summary of that system.

Within 10 days of this condition coming into effect the registered provider must review service users dependency needs and ensure that staff are deployed in a way that meets service users needs in a safe and personalised way; including at night.

The registered provider must ensure within 10 days of this notice coming into effect, you an effective system to monitor and assess the quality of the service provided at Swiss Cottage. This must ensure that:

a. An investigation of any event which impacts on the safety or care of service users. To embed the lessons learnt from these events into systems and staff practices.

b. There are sufficient staff to meet service users care and social needs in a person-centered way.

c. All staff have received training in ‘adult safeguarding’ and you have assessed they are competent in safeguarding adults from potential abuse and neglect.

d. All staff including kitchen staff, are aware of and meet service users’ dietary needs. To also include the availability of hot and cold food during the night if service users require this.

e. Visiting of relatives and friends is conducted in a safe and personable way and in line with national guidance.

The provider must within 10 days of this condition coming into effect develop and implement an action plan that details the action taken to address the conditions imposed at 1, 2, 3, and 4 above. The action plan must include the following:

a. What actions will be taken to meet conditions 1,2, 3 and 4.

b. Identify which staff will be responsible for each action.

c. Identify the time scales for completion for each action.

d. A succinct summary of how these actions will be reviewed to check they are resolved.

e. A succinct summary of how you have checked these conditions are resolved.

Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered provider must only accommodate a maximum of 85 service users at Swiss Cottage Care Home.

The registered provider must ensure that the regulated activity accommodation for persons hwo require nursing or personal care is managed by an individual who is registered as a manager in respect of that activity at or from Swiss Cottage Care Home.
