During an inspection looking at part of the service

We carried out this inspection to check whether improvements had been made with regard to the management of medicines. We spoke with the provider and other staff as well as looking at records. We found that a new system of monitoring the staff's competency with regard to medicines had been implemented and the necessary improvements had been made.

During a routine inspection

All of the people we talked to who use the service were very complimentary about the care they receive. The relative of one person told us that prior to using Angel Care they had cared for their relative for 21 years as they had never trusted anyone else to provide the care until they used Angel Care. The relative was now happy to let the carers support their relative so they they could go out once a week.

All of the people we visited told us that the carers always asked if there was anything else they could do before they left. One relative told us that it was only through have the support of Angel Care that they had been able to get the right equipment for their relative to help them to stand. All of the people we talked to told us that they were happy with their care plans. One person told us that the care staff were "first class" and that they looked forward to the carers coming as it was a joy to have them in their home.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We carried out a review of compliance in February 2011 when we spoke to some people who use the service. They told us they were generally happy with their care and the service provided by the agency. They said they knew how to complain and said they were treated with dignity and respect. This was a follow up compliance visit, to check progress against compliance actions made. We did not talk to people using the service on this occasion.

3 February 2011

During a routine inspection

The people with whom we spoke told us that they were generally happy with the care and service they received from the agency. They told us that if they were not happy with anything the carers or agency staff had done they would phone the agency office and complain. They also told us that someone from the agency had visited to ask them if they were happy with the care provided.

One person told us that the agency had missed one evening call but after complaining this had never happened again.

The people with whom we spoke confirmed that they are treated with dignity and respect.
