Our current view of the service

Requires improvement

Updated 24 October 2025

Dates of assessment: 5 November 2025 to 28 November 2025. Linson Court is a 40 bedded residential nursing home, supporting older people, including people living with dementia. The service supported people with residential and nursing needs. At the time of our assessment there were 36 people living at the service on the first day and 35 people on the second day. We visited the service on 5 and 12 November 2025. We carried out this assessment as the service was newly registered and did not have a current rating.

Safe staffing levels were not always in place There was an established staff team who knew people well and fostered caring and trusting relationships. However, we found staff were rushed and people did not always receive timely support when they needed it. Risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing were assessed and regularly reviewed. Some improvements were required in relation to how the service mitigated risks to people’s skin integrity and the management of medicines. Recruitment was managed well, and staff received good quality induction, training and supervision to be able to carry out their role.

Audits and checks were in place to maintain oversight of the service. However, some audits had not identified the shortfalls we found during the assessment. The provider and registered manager were accessible and approachable and committed to providing a person-centred, high-quality service. The service had a proactive approach to improvement and learning lessons, including welcoming new initiatives to improve people’s experiences.

People’s health needs were met and the service worked well with stakeholders and other agencies. There were good links with health and social care professionals. The service was homely, safe and clean. People’s needs were assessed before they started to use the service.

The service was clean, accessible and well maintained. People’s bedrooms were well equipped and personalised, and people had access to homely and comfortable communal areas and a safe garden.

The provider was in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe staffing, the management of risk, including medicines, and good governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of the service

Updated 24 October 2025

People and relatives told us staff were kind, caring and compassionate and had the skills and training to be able to carry out their role. They said staff were consistent and understood their needs and wishes. They felt involved in their care and able to share their views. However, people and relatives consistently told us there were not enough staff at key times in the day. Staff supported people kindly, but they were often rushed, which meant people had to frequently wait for care and support. People were positive about the cleanliness and the quality of their living space and the variety and choice of meals. Some people said there was a lack of activities available during the day. People and relatives said the service was well managed and organised and the registered manager was approachable and helpful.
