CSL Lincoln is a Supported Living service that aims to help people live as independently as possible. Care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements, and the CQC does not regulate the premises used. At the time of inspection, 11 people were receiving regulated activity within the service. Staff demonstrated a clear understanding of incident reporting, safeguarding and risk management. Medicines and infection control were managed safely. Support plans were person-centred, however, some needed reviewing to ensure all relevant information was included and up to date. Sensory needs were not always considered, which meant strategies to manage challenges and create comfortable environments were at risk of being missed. Guidance on how to support people during periods of distress needed improvement. Following feedback, the service began reviewing support plans and other relevant documents with a view to making improvements. Staff promoted dignity, independence and choice. People were involved in decisions and staff responded to changing needs. Managers promoted a positive culture, supported staff wellbeing and carried out audits to check the quality of the service. The provider promoted innovation and improvement across the organisation. They were updating digital systems to better measure outcomes and improve people’s experiences and quality of life.
We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
