During a routine inspection

We found that people were able to express their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. We spoke with four people who used the service and four relatives. They confirmed they had been involved in the implementation of their support plans. Comments from people who used the service included 'The staff are very helpful and nice' and 'They(staff) always bring me the morning paper. It's the little jobs they do that count'.

We looked at six care records and all had assessments of their health and social needs completed. There were individual support plans and risk assessments in place. There was evidence within them to show they were evaluated on a regular basis. This meant that the service could demonstrate they could meet people's needs and maintain their health and wellbeing.

We contacted Wirral Borough Council who confirmed there were no concerns with regards to the service. We found that the provider had an effective system in place in relation to the recruitment and training of its employees. We spoke to eight members of staff. Comments from them included "The training is brilliant here" and "The management listen. They are really good".

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service and their family members they said staff were always respectful when in their home. They also told us they were happy with service provided and some comments made were:

"The staff are very patient with me and professional, they do their job very well."

"The staff are extremely good and helpful."

"The staff are very good and don't rush R with his personal care.'

'If there is an issue when I ring the office they sought it out'.

People who used the service said they were happy with the standard of support and care they received. They knew who to contact if they wished to discuss their care. All said they knew how to make a complaint and would feel comfortable raising concerns with the manager. Some comments made were:

'I have no complaints they provide me with the care I need.'

'It's a good agency I have no concerns at all.'

Family members of the people who used the service said they had no concerns to raise and were aware of the service's complaint procedure. Some comments made were:

'We just didn't like one of the carers who came, there was no problem with their work we just didn't take to them we raised it with the manager she was fine and we have a different carer coming now.'

'They are very approachable and get back to you when you ring them."

'Time of visits have changed and we have not always been informed which at the time was a pain'.
