Radis Community Care (Oak Tree House)

This assessment took place between 30 March 2026 to 23 April 2026, with an onsite visit to the registered location on 30 March 2026.

Radis Community Care (Oak Tree House) is an extra care sheltered housing scheme designed exclusively for people over 55 which provides homecare to people living in their own homes. At the time of the inspection, the service was providing the regulated activity of personal care to 10 people.

This was the provider’s first inspection since registration. At the time of inspection there was no registered manager in place, however, a new manager was in the process of registering.

We identified two breaches of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance.

Care plans did not always contain clear or sufficiently detailed guidance to support staff in providing person‑centered care. Information about how people wished to receive personal care and how to safely support people with specific health conditions was not always recorded.

Risk assessments were not consistently in place following incidents to ensure risks were mitigated, and medicines were not always managed safely. In addition, staff did not always have the appropriate training in place to support people’s assessed needs.

The Mental Capacity Act (2005) was not applied consistently. Best interest decision making, and best interest meetings were not consistently recorded or carried out where required. However, daily records showed staff knew people well and generally offered choice and encouragement to support people’s individual needs.

People were treated with kindness and respect, and staff demonstrated positive relationships with those they supported. Care was delivered by a stable staff team who knew people well.

Staff told us they felt supported in their roles, received regular training and supervision, and spoke positively about the management team.

We have asked the provider to submit an action plan detailing how they will address the concerns identified during this inspection.

People and their relatives generally told us they received good care from kind and caring staff.

Relatives told us, they were kept informed about their loved one’s care and support and said communication was generally effective. This helped them feel involved and reassured about the care being delivered.

Feedback was largely positive, with most people expressing confidence in the service and satisfaction with the care provided. However, some relatives raised concerns that not all staff had the skills and knowledge required to consistently meet their loved one’s needs. In addition, concerns were shared about the level of support provided with personal care.

Some relatives also told us they did not always receive a timely or clear response from the management team when raising concerns, which affected their confidence that issues were being fully addressed.
