During a routine inspection

We spoke to five people who had attended the health care centre for appointments with the GP or a primary care nurse and/or a mental health nurse and/or the counsellor provided by the health centre. We also spoke to five staff including Registered General Nurses and to the health centre manager.

People gave generally positive comments about the service they received. One person was not satisfied with the service they received. One person said how grateful they were that the health centre had carried out a range of medical examinations and that they now received treatment for a condition they did not know they had. People told us the health centre staff treated them with respect. We spoke to two people about the counselling support they received which they said was helpful. We observed a staff member assessing a person's mental health needs. We saw that the person was treated with respect and was involved in decision making about how they were to be supported.

People told us they were able to access the health centre when they needed it and that they saw a health care professional quickly. We saw records of health assessments and referrals made to hospital specialist services for assessment and possible treatment.

The health centre had a range of consulting rooms with facilities for more basic medical examinations and emergency life support. The health centre was clean and had a range of policies regarding infection prevention and control.
