During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who used the service and looked at records relating to four people's care. People confirmed they received a reliable service from care workers; they told us the staff knew their job, were friendly, and consistently provided the support that had been agreed with them.

People told us they received the right care at the right time as agreed with the agency. They also confirmed that care workers kept a record of the day to day care they had provided. However we were unable to determine that people's care plans were routinely updated to reflect their changing needs, as records of people's daily care were not available to view at the agency office at the time of our visit.

People told us the provider had sought feedback from them on the quality of the care the agency provided, and records were available to show this was happening. We found that care workers had received appropriate training to enable them to provide people with the right care and support needed, although records of training were not always supported by obtaining certificates from the training company.

All of the people we spoke with confirmed they had no concerns about the quality of the care they received and were complimentary of the staff saying they were pleasant and treated them with respect.

During a routine inspection

People using the service told us that they had been involved in the devolvement of their care plan and were involved in making decisions. They also told us that they had review meetings with the manager and that their needs were checked and reviewed. People said that they were treated with dignity and respect and addressed by their preferred name. Service users told us that staff wore gloves when undertaking personal task. We were also told by people using the service that though staff stay the required time they are sometimes late, but usually phone to keep the service user informed. They also said that they tended to see the same faces, though one person thought she had seen eight different staff members. Service users told us that any concerns were dealt with straight away.

Staff told us that they received training but were unable to confirm what training had been attended when. Two members of staff told us that they were being supported to complete a national vocational qualification.
