Date of assessment 16 September 2025 to 7 October 2025. Fairlight Manor provides personal care and support for up to 19 older people, most of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our visit there were 17 people living at the home. This assessment was prompted by the length of time since our last inspection.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. The service had made improvements and are no longer in breach of regulations.
The home was clean and tidy throughout. Environmental risks were identified and mitigated. People were protected from the risk of abuse, harm or discrimination. Staff knew people well and understood the care and support required and their medicines were managed safely. There were enough staff who had been safely recruited and received ongoing training and support. Staff ensured they received support from appropriate health and social care professionals when they needed it. People were treated with kindness and compassion. They were supported to make their own decision and choices. Staff protected people’s privacy and dignity and helped maintain their independence. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. There were activities available throughout the day, and people were supported to maintain their own interests and hobbies. Staff responded to people in a timely way. Staff wellbeing was supported and there was a positive culture at the service. The provider had good oversight of the service. They were committed to learning, improving and developing the service for the benefit of the people who lived there.
