During an assessment under our new approach

Date of inspection: 26 June 2026 to 14 July 2026. We visited the service on 26 June, 3 July, 10 July and 14 July 2026.

Re-Create Freedom is a care home providing short term respite care and support for up to 3 adults, at one time. The service provides a service to older people, younger adults, autistic people and/or people with a learning disability. At the time of our assessment there were 27 people who used the respite service at different times. During our inspection visits, there were 1, 2 and 3 people using the service.

This comprehensive inspection was prompted by a review of the information we held about this service. The service was registered 29 June 2023, and this is the first assessment. At this assessment, we have rated this service Good.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people consistently received care and support in accordance with the principles of this guidance.

People had a choice of if they used the service. People’s needs were assessed before they used the service. The assessments were used to formulate a care plan and risk assessments, which were kept under review to ensure people received person centred care. People could visit the service before using it, to consider if the service was right for them.

Staff empowered people to make choices about what they wanted to achieve during their stay and the activities they participated in, including accessing the community. Staff supported people to develop their independence, where required. Staff were caring and compassionate and treated people as individuals. People had access to the community and their choices of what activities they wanted to participate in during their stay were supported.

There were systems in place to reduce the risks of avoidable harm and abuse. Staff were recruited safely and received the training they needed to meet people’s needs. The provider ensured ongoing recruitment supported the planned staffing levels. Medicines were managed safely.

There were systems in place to monitor the service and address any concerns. The registered manager was committed to ensuring people received good quality care.
