Independence, choice and control
People were encouraged to have choice and control over their own care and make decisions about their care treatment and wellbeing. Some people knew they had a care plan, however some did not. One person told us they were involved in their care plan but couldn’t remember what had been discussed. Another told us they didn’t need to be involved in their care plan.
One person told us “Staff help me with whatever I need, I can do what I want”.
Relative told us, “[family member] had come on leaps and bounds since being in the home, and their walking is much better.”
People’s friends and family were able to visit them regularly which helped people maintain relationships.
Staff were knowledgeable about the people in the service and understood how best to support them.
Staff supported people to go to medical appointments. The registered manager recognised the service had not supported people very often to leave the home to attend social events.
