Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 30 April to 20 May 2026, including a site visit to the office on 11 May 2026. Blossom Home Care Grimsby provides personal care to people in their own homes. At the time of the assessment, they were supporting 90 people, but not all these people received the regulated activity personal care.

The service provided safe and very compassionate care which met people’s needs and preferences. Systems were in place to ensure staff were appropriately recruited, trained and supported. People’s needs were assessed and care plans were developed so staff knew how to support people effectively. These were updated when people’s needs changed. Care calls were planned on the provider’s electronic system, to ensure people received a reliable service.

Appropriate medication systems were in place and staff competence in this area was routinely checked. Staff worked with people to understand and manage risks relating to their care. Staff were knowledgeable about how to raise any safeguarding concerns and felt confident any issues they raised would be addressed. Staff worked in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act and respected people’s choices and decisions.

The service was well managed and there were effective systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. The management team listened to feedback from people, relatives and staff to continually improve the service. Staff and managers worked very well in partnership working with other professionals to ensure people’s needs were met. They also organised some community events and charitable fundraising activities, to help aid connections within the local community. Staff were motivated and felt very well supported by the management team.
