Gateford Hill Care Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to older adults with physical healthcare needs and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment the service supported 35 people. The last focused assessment of Gateford Hill Care Home was published 14 May 2025; there was no overall rating given at this inspection. The key questions Safe and Well-Led were rated Inadequate. This is the services first full assessment and the overall rating for Gateford Hill Care Home is Good. This is based on the findings at this assessment. We found significant improvements had been made since our last assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of any regulations. Medicines were now managed safely; the provider had sought specialist support to improve the management of medicines. Risks relating to the environment had been resolved with extensive work carried out to ensure the safety of the home. Staffing levels had increased to ensure people received care in a timely manner. Staff had undergone further training to ensure people received high quality person-centred care. We observed staff to treat people with dignity and kindness. The providers’ systems and processes were being utilised to ensure any quality concerns were identified and timely action was taken to improve the quality and safety of care. A new management team had been introduced. The management team were supported and inducted by the providers senior leadership team. The provider worked with the staff team, management and partners to address and rectify the issues raised during the last assessment of Gateford Hill.

People's experience of the service

People told us staff were kind and caring. People and their relatives told us there had been a lot of new staff since out last assessment which meant some staff knew people better than others. People said they didn’t wait long for their calls to be answered and there were more staff around. Relatives we spoke with told us the provider held meetings to discuss the previous assessment and the changes being made. People said the activities and food had improved since our last assessment. We observed staff to consistently treat people with kindness and dignity. Staff told us they had more time to spend with people which improved morale at the service. People and their relatives told us they were aware of the change in management and people we spoke with knew who both the manager and deputy manager were. People gave positive feedback about the staffs’ kind approach to care.
