Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
People and relatives told us they were happy with the care provided. People confirmed they were able to make choices and were involved in day-to-day decisions. One person told us, “I’m looked after well here. I get myself up, dressed and shaved and give myself a shower when I want one. I choose my own clothes and get up and go to bed when I want.” Another person stated, “I like to shower twice a day. I get myself up and dressed. I like to go out and do some shopping for myself too. Any problems I speak to the staff.”
A relative told us about how the staff helped them celebrate a special occasion, by supporting their family member to attend an event. They had not expected this to be able to happen, so were very pleased, especially as their relative rarely accessed the community.
