Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 22 July 2025

Date of Assessment: 29 July 2025 to 12 August 2025. The service is a small homecare agency providing support to people, including those with a physical disability, sensory impairment or living with dementia. Not everyone supported by the service received the regulated activity of personal care, with some people assisted with cleaning or social visits only. At the time of our assessment, there were 21 people receiving personal care.

The service was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to making statutory notifications to the CQC about events that happened such as safeguarding referrals or injuries. Improvements were found at this assessment and the service was no longer in breach of this regulation.

Leaders investigated incidents and safeguarding concerns. Whilst some risk assessments required more detail, staff understood and managed risks as they had specialist training to meet people’s needs. Staff were regular, reliable and punctual. Minor improvements were needed to medicine records.

People received an assessment, and care delivered was based on evidence and good practice. People had enough to eat and drink in line with their preferences. Staff worked with other agencies to support good outcomes. Capacity and consent were considered, but further action was required to develop capacity assessments.

Staff treated people with kindness and compassion, respecting their privacy and dignity. The staff team responded quickly to meet people’s needs, including if people became anxious or needed some additional support. Staff wellbeing was promoted by the management team. People were involved in decisions about their care. The service was responsive and easily contactable.

Management was visible and approachable, helping staff develop in their roles. There were plans to grow the service. Some systems and processes needed enhancing and formalising, to ensure the service could be scaled up.

People's experience of the service

Updated 22 July 2025

People told us they felt safe with care workers at E2K Care and had a good rapport with them. The service was described by people as being responsive, with extra visits and support often available if required in response to people's changing needs. A relative told us, “I am absolutely satisfied with the care provided. The girls (care workers) I have met are very nice. They organise to take [person] to the hospital and when they do there is always someone to accompany [person]. They provide me with updates.” Some people supported by the service lived in their own homes or flats, whilst others lived in an independent living service which included in-built support with meal provision and laundry. In this case, E2K Care only visited to support people with their personal care in addition to the provisions already in place. People and their relatives confirmed staff came on time, stayed for the time required and were a familiar team who knew people’s needs well. A person told us, “It’s an excellent service and the girls (staff) are lovely. They are kind and gentle. They can send in different carers, but I know all of them by name.” We received feedback from people saying they were satisfied with the quality of care provided. For example, when asked if they would recommend the service to others, one person’s relative told us, “Absolutely”. Another person’s relative said, “[E2K Care] go above and beyond what is required of them and both my [relative] and I couldn’t go without them. I cannot speak highly enough of all the ladies (care workers) who assist both my [relative] and myself with care. I honestly don’t have a single complaint or recommendation that could improve, the care provided as it is at the highest standard possible.”
