This assessment was the first inspection of Essential Homecare Ltd.
Essential Homecare Ltd is a Domiciliary Care Agency providing personal care and support to people living in their own homes. The provider supported older and younger adults, people living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. At the time of the assessment, 33 people were being supported with personal care.
Essential Homecare Ltd was found to be a service with strong values, capable leadership and a deeply embedded culture of safety, compassion and continuous improvement. People consistently received care that was safe, person‑centred and aligned with their wishes and preferences. The provider ensured people’s safety was at the forefront of care delivery, with risks clearly assessed and staff demonstrating a strong understanding of how to support people safely. Staff were confident in managing risks and the provider also considered the wider safety of staff delivering personal care in people’s homes.
Staff were recruited safely and provided with high‑quality training that equipped them with the skills and confidence needed to support each person effectively. Staff spoke positively about their training, describing it as thorough, relevant and empowering. Medicines were managed safely, with staff demonstrating competence, confidence and adherence to policy. Safeguarding processes were well understood, and staff were clear about how to escalate concerns promptly using the Raise a Concern process.
Care and support were coordinated and planned in line with people’s wishes, with care records regularly reviewed to ensure accuracy. People felt listened to, respected and involved in decisions about their care. Concerns and complaints were handled openly and constructively; the provider worked closely with people and their relatives to improve outcomes and strengthen trust.
Leadership was visible, approachable and highly regarded by staff, people using the service, relatives and external professionals. Feedback about leaders was consistently positive, highlighting their compassion, capability and inclusive approach. Governance processes were embedded and effective, with audits, incident reviews, supervision frameworks and digital monitoring used to identify improvements and drive learning. The provider maintained a continually evolving action plan to ensure improvements were sustained and learning was embedded across the service.
