During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 6th October 2025 to 6th November 2025 Middleton Lodge Care Home is a residential care home for up to 63 people. At the time of this assessment 61 people were using the service. The service provides care to younger adults, older people, some of whom are living with dementia and/or physical disabilities or Sensory Impairment.
We found medicines were not always managed safely and risks to two people’s mobility had not been fully considered. The registered manager took immediate action to address this.
People’s needs were assessed and person-centred care records were in place. Care plans and risk assessments reflected people’s assessed needs and helped staff to support people. Staff knew people well and treated them as individuals. People were treated with kindness, respect and compassion. People were supported to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff treated people as individuals offering choice and supporting their independence.
The management team were open and approachable. Safeguarding policies and procedures were in place to ensure people were kept safe. Recruitment checks were completed to ensure staff were suitable to work with people. Staff received training and support from leaders, helping them to provide safe and effective care. Staff worked well as a team and had opportunities to give their views in team meetings and supervisions. There were effective systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service and actions were taken as needed.
