Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 5 January 2026

Date of Assessment: 24 February – 11 March 2026.The service is a residential care home split over 2 floors with access to lounge areas, a spacious dining area and large gardens. The service provides support, including respite care, to adults of all ages. At the time of our assessment 24 people, which included 6 people on respite, were receiving the regulated activity of personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.

The atmosphere at the home was friendly and welcoming, all staff were attentive to people’s needs and were equipped with the right skills, training and values. The home was clean, well maintained, bright and airy, and people’s rooms were comfortable and personalised.

The home had enough staff to support people safely. Records showed accidents and incidents were documented, investigated and any learning when things went wrong was shared with staff and embedded to improve ways of working.

People were supported to ensure they received fluid and nutrition in line with their preferences and dietary needs, join in activities to keep them mentally and physically active, and maintain their health and wellbeing. People could access support from medical and other professionals including on an emergency basis.

Leaders promoted a culture of open communication and honesty within the service based on listening, learning and trust. Staff were confident in speaking up, contributing ideas and felt listened to. Staff also felt they had the right support from the management team and were confident in their ability to fulfil their role.

Staff went above and beyond in showing kindness, and compassion to people, treating them all as individuals and seeking person centred ways to engage each person and keep them occupied. This was made possible by creating strong connections with the community and evaluating people’s past and interests to create unique experiences.

People's experience of the service

Updated 5 January 2026

People and relatives felt they were safe, they were supported by competent staff with medicines, and they were involved in planning their care. Feedback was collected from people and their families who were residents at the home, and others on short respite stays, who all spoke positively about their experience from the initial assessment, activities and the environment, to the caring approach of staff and the management of the home. People felt safe, happy and cared for. One person who had moved in quite recently said, “This is my forever home. I’ve settled here nicely.” Our observations throughout the day were immensely positive, reflected feedback from people and relatives, and we saw staff consistently demonstrate their skills, the positive relationships they had with people and family members, and their passion for providing high quality care. One person told us, “I don’t think you’ll find much amiss, they [all staff] are very good to us.”
