Blu Haven Care Ltd is registered to provide personal care to people living in their own homes. The service was registered on 22 February 2023. This was the first assessment, and we have rated the service good.
The provider assessed risks to people’s safety and wellbeing. They supported people to take risks and be independent when they wanted this and it was safe to do so. There were systems to ensure people were safeguarded from avoidable harm. Accidents, incidents and complaints were investigated and learnt from.
There were enough staff. People were cared for by the same familiar care workers. There were systems to ensure staff had the skills and knowledge to care for people, including inductions, training, assessments of their competencies and appraisals of work. Staff felt supported and had the information they needed to care for people.
The registered manager discussed people’s needs and how they wanted to be cared for with them and their relatives. They created personalised care plans. Staff supported people to make decisions about their care. Staff monitored people’s health and wellbeing.
People received person-centred care which met their needs. They had information about the agency and were able to speak with managers when they needed. The service was responsive to people’s individual needs.
Staff were kind, caring and treated people with respect. Staff spoke positively about the people they cared for. People’s individual needs were respected and staff understood about their culture, religion and identity.
The provider had effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service. They carried out audits and checks. They obtained feedback from people using the service and other stakeholders. The provider responded when things went wrong. The registered manager worked closely with external partners to ensure people received good quality care and staff followed best practice.
