Date of Assessment: 28 and 29 May 2025. Shawford Springs Care Home provides accommodation without nursing care for up to 64 people. Accommodation is arranged over two floors with stair and lift access. At the time of this inspection there were 36 people using the service. Our inspection was prompted by concerns received about how people’s needs were assessed before moving to the service. This was a comprehensive inspection, and we reviewed all the quality statements. This is the first inspection of this service since it registered on 22 February 2023, and we have rated the service good in all key questions.

People’s needs had been fully assessed and were regularly reviewed. Risk assessments had been completed and regularly reviewed, and care plans informed staff how to keep people safe from harm. Staff had the right skills, qualifications and experience to meet the needs of people and staff knew how to support people safely. Staff followed safeguarding processes and systems were effective to manage any safeguarding concerns. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy.

Medicines were managed safely. Checks for safety had been carried out for the premises and for any equipment being used. Fire risks were assessed and managed. Quality assurance processes were in place to monitor all aspects of the service. Action plans were in place and actions taken following audits were monitored. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. The service was clean and well maintained, and we observed staff following infection prevention and control guidelines. Staff told us there was an open culture; they said they felt valued and respected and were encouraged and supported to develop professionally. They spoke positively about their roles, and the support and encouragement they received from the management team.
