The assessment took place between 05 February 2026 and 13 February 2026. This was an unannounced assessment as the service was newly registered with CQC and unrated. Ingleborough House is a specialist dementia nursing home designed to provide person‑centred care and support for people living with dementia The home is registered to accommodate up to 30 people. At the time of the assessment, 28 people were living at the service.
The service had safe recruitment procedures in place, with appropriate mandatory pre‑employment checks completed. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people’s needs, and staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities.
Medicines were generally managed safely, with appropriate systems in place for secure storage, accurate recording and safe administration. When errors had been identified, through internal audit processes, lessons learned were documented and shared to prevent recurrence.
Staff received training relevant to their roles, including dementia care and managing behaviours which may distress.
Care plans were updated as people’s needs changed, and relatives were kept informed and involved in decision‑making. People knew how to raise concerns if needed.
Staff supported people in a kind and respectful manner, promoting dignity, privacy and independence. Activities were planned around people’s interests and abilities, and staff made efforts to involve those who were less inclined to participate to ensure opportunities for meaningful engagement.
Governance systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service, including audits covering care plans, medicines, staffing and incidents. The management team promoted an open and supportive culture, and feedback from people and relatives indicated confidence in the leadership and communication within the service.
