Updated 30 June 2025
Date of Assessment: 8 and 14 July 2025. The service is a residential care home providing support to adults over 65 years old, including people living with dementia. At the time of this assessment, there were 25 people living at the home. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
People told us they felt safe. We found risks to people’s care were well managed and relevant risk assessments were in place for risks linked to people’s care needs. However, we found examples where further work continued to be required to ensure people’s risks assessments were detailed in line with best practice guidance. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs and were clean and well-maintained.
Overall, medicines were safely managed, and people received their medication as required and in a safe manner. We found some areas continued to require improvement such as recording of creams and storage.
The provider had a good learning culture. People and relatives felt able to raise concerns. Accidents and incidents were recorded, investigated and patterns linked to falls were analysed.
There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications, and experience. Staff told us they felt well supported and enjoyed working at the home. Staff were recruited safely.
People received care that was centred around their needs and staff knew people well.
The management team had a good oversight of the service. However, we found examples wherethe effectiveness of quality assurance processes and compliance with the provider's own policies and procedures could be improved. The provider was receptive to this assessment’s findings and took appropriate action where areas for improvement were identified.
