During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who used the service, three members of staff and the manager.

People we spoke with told us they were highly satisfied with the service. One person said 'they've done a brilliant job. It's a good service.' Another told us 'it's utterly positive (the experience). I can't see how they can make it any better.'

We saw from people's comments on the NHS choices website people had rated the service a maximum of five stars and had provided very favourable comments.

People told us they were involved in their treatment plans and encouraged to ask questions. They said they were kept well informed of the treatment and care they would receive. One person explained how this helped allay their anxiety. People said they received useful written and verbal information at all stages of their treatment journey.

We found the provider had procedures to ensure other healthcare professionals who may have been involved in people's care were kept fully informed of the outcome of the treatment.

People were satisfied with the surroundings which were described as 'comfortable' and 'very clean.'

The provider had systems to promote cleanliness and reduce infection. We observed all areas of the treatment centre were clean and tidy. The provider conducted regular infection control audits to identify areas of risk or in need of improvement.

The provider had an effective quality monitoring system.

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with two people who were receiving treatment at the hospital. People told us that staff were polite and courteous at all times and respected their privacy. One person said 'Staff are perfect. 'X' who has looked after me has been brilliant. She doesn't miss a trick.'

We found that people had consented and been involved in decisions about their treatment. The treatment records showed effective, safe and appropriate personalised treatment and care to people through coordinated assessment, planning and delivery carried out by a multi disciplinary team. People told us they had received a high standard of care and treatment. One person said 'absolutely A1.'

Safeguarding policies and procedures were in place and accessible to staff. Staff told us they had received up to date training. People we spoke to told us they felt safe and confident with the staff.

People and staff considered there were sufficient staff on duty at the time of our visit to meet the needs of people. One person said staff were 'professional, courteous and friendly.' Another person said 'staff were perfect.'

Information about how people could raise concerns was accessible to people. Staff told us they were aware of the complaints policy and procedures.

During a routine inspection

We spent the day at the hospital talking to and observing patients attending for out patient consultation, pre operative assessment, diagnostic tests and day surgery. There were two operating theatres in the centre and both were in use that day. We spoke to some patients who were being prepared for surgery and others who were in the recovery area following surgery. All of the people we spoke to were full of praise for the hospital and its staff. They told us that at every stage of their care and treatment they had been treated with care, and courtesy. They told us that everything was explained to them clearly and they were given opportunities to ask any questions. People told us that staff did everything to ease their anxiety. They told us they though the hospital was clean, welcoming and efficiently run.
