During a routine inspection

People who use the service told us what it was like to live there and about their experience of care. We observed the care provided and saw good interactions between the people living there and the staff.

We spoke to 10 residents all of whom gave us positive feedback about the service. One of them said "I'm very happy here" another stated "the staff are very nice, they look after me".

People who use the service told us how they were treated by staff and involved in making choices about their care, one of them said "they always come when I need them". We saw staff speaking politely and clearly to people, explaining what they were doing and offering people choices.

We saw that the people who lived there were being cared for by staff who had appropriate checks when employed and had been provided with adequate training and support to carry out the job. We saw that the accommodation was clean and tidy and the people who use the service were happy and relaxed

We saw that the physical health and diet of the people who lived there were a high priority to staff. Medication was managed safely and risks were considered when planning care.

We found that the equipment provided to support care was suitable and properly maintained. The care records that we viewed were fit for purpose.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four out of 29 people in the home at the time of the inspection. We observed eight people in both lounges to see the care that was given to them and the way that staff interacted with them.

We saw that people at the home were comfortable, dressed appropriately and able to move about freely. People interacted positively with each other and with staff. People told us that they were happy at the home. One person said "I'm very lucky to be here", and another person told us "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else". People said they had no complaints with the care they had received at the home.

We spoke with two staff members, and both of them told us they were happy at the home, and were supported through training, appraisals and access to senior staff and the manager. One staff member told us that the manager was approachable and that all of the staff got on well.

We reviewed four care plans and found that they all contained a set of assessments and linked support plans to ensure that the staff were able to meet the individual needs of each person.
