During a routine inspection

People expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. We spent time observing how staff supported people living at the home. We found staff were very respectful in their approach, treating people with dignity and courtesy.

When we visited the home there were 51 people living there, in three separate units. We spent time talking with several people, and watched how staff gave them support and care. People were very happy with the care provided. Comments included 'Brilliant care, get looked after properly' and 'Provide a better service here, have been in two other homes before this one.'

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

The provider had an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people who used the service.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with eleven people. They said:

'We are well looked after',

'You can have what you like to eat',

'I've got Sky TV in my room',

'I go out now and again to the harbour with staff',

'Its lovely here',

'I get a nice bed and room',

'I like it here. There is lots to do',

'I wouldn't want to go to another care home' and

'I'm able to keep my money locked in my room'.

Some people were not able to tell us directly what they thought about the service. However, during our visit we spent time observing how staff supported people and this was positive and respectful.

Staff told us:

'It had made such a difference with the new d'cor' and

'I've been here for 13 years and I'm really proud to show people around'.
